Volume 4, February 2011, Issue #6
Editor: Khouzhan Phoenix Fleurette-Beauchamp-Corfield
Happy St. Valentine's Month, everyone! Or, as we like to call it around here, Erzulie Freda Month! :-) I have always loved Valentine's Day whether I was in a relationship or not! To me, it is about sharing love of all kinds - family, friends, those in need, and, of course, one's partner if you are in a relationship.
Lots of folks who aren't in a relationship get down and depressed at the spectre of another Valentine's Day spent alone. The cure for that is to not be alone! Share the day with someone special in your life - a great friend, favorite family member, your wonderful pets, or, best of all, brighten the day for someone in need. It is a wonderful day to show love to all humanity: Bake cookies for a homeless shelter or senior citizens center. Volunteer your time to a children's hospital and brighten the day of sick kids. If you look, there are so many ways to share this special day of love with someone.
Another option is to do something great for yourself! Make this your day to go to a spa, or get your hair and nails done. No money for that? Make it an at-home spa day! Dig out those bath salts you got for Christmas, nail polish, hair products and make it an all-about-you day! Loving yourself is as important as loving someone else. :-)
If you aren't in a relationship and want to be, make this your day to affirm that you don't want to be alone. Of course, you can do our Erzulie Freda Valentine's Day Ritual! In addition, you can take some time to start a journal about what kind of partner you want: What do they sound like, look like, feel like? Where might you meet them? What can you do to bring them into your life. As much as we would like it, our ideal partner probably isn't going to just magickally appear in your livingroom. If being in a relationship is what you want, use this month of love to set a course of action to not be alone next year. Make your role in getting a partner extremely proactive!
If you feel like good relationships escape you constantly, take a look inside yourself. Make sure that you really want to be in a relationship. I talk to so many people who SAY they want to be in a relationship, but when I look inside of them, really they want to be completely free from pairing their life with someone else's. Guess what? There is nothing wrong with that! Make sure that in your quest to be in a relationship that is what you really want and that you are not just falling prey to social pressures that make you feel like you are supposed to be paired up with someone. Maybe you aren't! Maybe your life is just fine and fulfilled just the way it is. Don't be afraid to make the choice to be "unpartnerned."Unpartnered doesn't mean unloved! Your love may be shared with so many in the world! There is love out there by the buckets full! So many people need your love and attention and care - go out there and give and receive.
True love of all kinds is about choices. The choices are all yours. As long as you are going out there and giving your love freely in the world, you will be rewarded with love in return. I promise! However you choose to celebrate Love this month, both Parran Matt and I wish you love and happiness!
Love, light, and peace,
Mambo Samantha Corfield

FEBRUARY IS ERZULIE FREDA MONTH!
Join us for our first group ritual of 2011! As we've been doing every year since 2006, on Valentine's Day — February 14th — we'll be performing a ritual to Erzulie Freda, the Voodoo Lwa of love. We'll repeat the ritual throughout February, making it our official Erzulie Freda month!
Although we offer several different kits and individual products to honor Erzulie, participation is free of charge (we offer free ritual instructions if you wish to perform the ritual using your own materials). Whether or not you choose to join us in performing the ritual, we invite all who are working on love situations to submit a petition to Erzulie Freda asking for her help. Simply write a letter to Erzulie asking for her help — begin your letter with "Dear Erzulie Freda," and write from the heart, just as if you were speaking directly to her — and submit your letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. These petitions will be placed upon a special altar, where they will receive the benefit of our group rituals. No purchase is required to submit a petition, and you may send yours anytime from now through February.
For more information, products and ritual kits to honor Erzulie Freda, and a link to the free ritual instructions, visit http://www.spellmaker.com/erzulie.htm.
A POWERFUL NEW SERVICE FROM SPELLMAKER

This doubly potent ritual calls upon the power and influence of both of these Lwa -- a very effective combination for love situations.
During the month of February, this new service is being offered at a special introductory price of $100.00, the same price as a single lamp to Ogoun. This amazing offer includes a Tarot reading and pendulum reading... but it's available at this price for only a limited time, so order while it lasts!

ORDERING PROCESS CHANGED FOR READINGS
In order to ease bookkeeping chores necessitated by new 2011 tax issues, we have changed the ordering process for readings with Mambo Sam, Sister Bridget, and Sister Candelaria. These services must now be purchased separately from other Spellmaker and Sheer Goddess products. To facilitate this process, the readings pages now feature "Buy Now" buttons which enable immediate checkout through PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account to purchase readings; you may pay with any major credit or debit card. Simply click the button for the type of reading you wish to purchase; then, on the Paypal screen which appears, choose either "Log in to my PayPal account" or "Pay with debit or credit card."
911 READINGS NOW AVAILABLE!
In most cases our readings are scheduled within 3 to 5 days. For those with more urgent needs, we now offer 911 readings, which are scheduled within 24 hours. These readings are available in the 30-minute format only, as situations which warrant such urgency generally require more in-depth attention. 911 readings are also subject to scheduling availability: Mambo Sam is available for readings on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays; Sister Bridget on Tuesdays through Thursdays and Sundays.
For more information on readings available through the Spellmaker family, visit the Readings and Consultations page at http://www.spellmaker.com/readings.htm.
LWA SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH
Erzulie Freda -- alternately spelled Erzulie Phraeda -- is the Lwa (Vodou spirit) of love and beauty. A graceful and refined spirit, Erzulie Freda exemplifies femininity, love, and passion, and is therefore most often called upon in matters of romance.
Although she often plays the flirtatious coquette when she first makes an appearance at ceremonies, Erzulie often breaks down into tears later. She takes on the sorrows of the world, painfully aware that no amount of material wealth and luxury can compensate for a lack of love in one's life. She weeps for us all; therefore, she is generally syncretized with the Mater Dolorosa (Sorrowing Mother).
Erzulie wears three wedding bands, symbolizing the three marriages she has experienced over her numerous lifetimes. One ring is for Ogoun, brave warrior and ironsmith. One ring is for Agwe, master of the sea. The third ring is for the great white serpent Damballah (although some accounts credit it to Papa Legba, guardian of the gates to the spirit world).
Erzulie Freda loves the finer things in life: beautiful jewelry, champagne, decadent desserts and chocolate, and fine perfume. For this reason, many people are reluctant to serve her if they do not have much money to spend on a fancy ritual. However, Maitresse Erzulie is a gracious lady, and will appreciate anything done with sincerity; the simplest altar and offerings, lovingly presented, will honor her if offered with an honest and open heart.
For more information on Erzulie Freda, including ritual kits and products consecrated to her, please visit http://www.spellmaker.com/erzulie.htm. And don't forget to send your petitions for our group ritual!
