The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.

                             - Mark Twain

Hey y'all,

I heard on the news last night, that doctors always say that this week of the year traditionally sees the most sad people. The holidays are over, bills are coming in, the weather is kinda crummy, there isnt alot of sunshine. What the doctor said to do was sooooo simple. He suggests that people just go around smiling at other people! that they just smile at strangers, maybe say a friendly hello. That person that they smile out feels happier and is much more likely to go smile at someone else, and so on and so on. So! My challenge to you all today is to go out and smile at 10 people today. If only 10 of you do this, that is 100 people whose spirits have been lifted, and if each of them only smile at 5 people , thats 500 people, and so on and so on.

SO, GO OUT THERE AND SMILE!!!!

Emacs!

and let me know how you feel

I wonder if this dreary time of year is why there is such a wild holiday as Mardi Gras / Carnivale / Fasching? Of course, most places with Carnivale have plenty of sun this time of year.

It all gets brighter from here!

Speaking of which, I got a good hint a few years back. Sunlight really does make a difference for moods, and many of us go to work and back home again in dark hours. So take a walk at lunchtime! Yes, it's cold. Bundle up and do it anyway.

I get very depressed when we don't have much sunlight........ My doctor wanted to put me on medicine and refused. So, I thought about getting a sun lamp to see if that would work but they were way above my budget. Then I had an and went to the store and bought those florescent light bulbs that say their equivalent to direct sunlight. I put them in all lamps and guess what? They work! My depression is almost gone and I don't mind it being dark as much. I guess I should also tell you that I live in a basement apartment and that makes it even worse in the winter cause it's always dark down there.
