While I can't say if it's the person's Met Tet, I've met a few people who seem to be incarnations of Lwa. One in particular is Papa Legba the bike guy. I met him through a social networking site, without knowing we lived in the same area. I hadn't been on a bike practically since I got my driver's license, and here he was looking to start a cycling group. And he is a wicked practical joker, likes dogs, and has this odd shoulder injury that, if you notice it, looks like it's propped up on a crutch. My bike friend prompted me to get my bike reconditioned, all the while laughing about it being a 30-year-old collectors' item.
One time he lost his key after locking his bike to a fence. I knew Papa Legba was getting him back. I went to leave pennies at a crossroad, and when I got back there were three Ogoun types of guys helping him disassemble (and reassemble) the fence to free the bike.
Seeing the Lwa in people has made a difference in the way I view them. I'm not as scared or intimidated by Ogoun types as I once was, and when the Legbas are too much with the jokes I stop and examine what doors might be opening to me.
And especially, I'm not nearly as annoyed when I lose things or other odd happenings, because I know Papa Legba is doing it to make me laugh at myself or the world.
