It's been in the news over the past two days that things are so bad in Haiti that people have resorted to eating dirt and mud. While this has been a staple of sorts in the diets of most poor people in this impoverished country, it has not been their only food source. Now, things such as cookies made of dirt and vegetable shortening are all some of these people have to eat, three meals a day. This used to be the exception, now it is turning into the rule.
I feel a certain kinship with the folks in Haiti, due to our common Vodou link, that's for certain. It's times like these, however, that I realize just how fortune I am to have the things that I possess. It also makes me realize what's really important in this life...family, friends, love...these are the things that truly matter.
I know we are all going through hardships right now and we want what we want, when we want it, but no matter where you are, things could almost always be worse. Just a little something for us all to keep in mind.
Light and so much love,
