I'm in the middle of solo work being cast for me and one thing that I've noticed is that day two of both spells that have been cast so far has flung me into a negative place.  In fact, this is day three of MYLM and that negativity has subsided, but I credit my use of affirmations to get me through.  It's a simple affirmation and I've always found that the best ones are simple.  I'm in MYLM right now, so my affirmation is: "P... is falling deeply, passionately in love with me."  It works.  I may have to say it a few times, but repeating that in my mind or out loud if I can- even if I only whisper it- refocuses me on the positive outcome I've petitioned for.

Another thing that I love to do is read a book- usually one that I'm already familiar with and which I know will totally enthrall me- and that takes my focus away from anything HD related (usually) so that I just have "me" time.  The same goes for watching a great movie, going for a walk at the park, etc.  When HD and I originally went our separate ways I was in one of the darkest places I've ever experienced in my life, and in order to lighten things up a little I went to a park near my house to walk- it's five miles around the lake which gave me an hour and a half to focus on my breathing, take in the nature that was around me, watch animals in the forest.  The point was to find something inspirational and it always worked.  Even though I was going through a difficult time, things were always ten times worse if I didn't get my time in at the park.

There is a book that I'll recommend that I simply adore- I found it years ago and it is very insightful.  I find that you can open it to practically any page and find something useful and inspirational.  It's called "Living in the Light".  The author's name is Shakti Gawain.  I would recommend it specifically to anyone who wants to use affirmations because she has a lot of VERY useful tricks and tips that you can use to build up a collection of affirmations that can be used whenever you need them.

This last thing: I used to be a heavy smoker and when I first picked up the book I mentioned above I became fixated on the use of affirmations.  I started telling myself that I was healthy and that I only allowed healthy things in my life.  I would do this whenever I had a free moment but especially when I was driving.  About a week after I started this, out of the blue, I pitched out my cigarettes and for two weeks I didn't smoke.  I didn't even want to.  Years later, hypnotherapy finally did the trick completely, but for those two weeks I proved to myself that it really all is in your head.  Change your thinking and change your life.  It's cheesy but it's true.
